Originally slated to meet Carlos Crum in a special election to fill the vacant House District 52 seat, Datcher, who won a Democratic primary runoff on Tuesday, could be sworn in as soon as August 1, following Crum’s departure from the race.

Several fire department battle fire near Leesburg
Several fire departments were involved in fighting a fire near the Pirates Bay waterpark in Leesburg Thursday night. The Leesburg Fire Department says they, along with Sandrock and Tucker's Chapel Fire Departments were involved in extinguishing the blaze.
Grammy winner appearing at Princess Theatre
DECATUR — Ashley McBryde is bringing her music mixture of rock, bluegrass, country pop and country rock to North Alabama. The Princess Theatre in Decatur announced that the Arkansas-born singer will appear Nov. 8 at the art-deco building that opened as a livery stable in 1887 before re-purposed in 1919 into a silent film and vaudeville playhouse.
New Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market Proposed for Growing Tuscaloosa Area
