Man fatally shot in Nichols Park Thursday afternoon
A 29-year-old man was fatally shot after an arguement with an unknown man in Hyde Park on Thursday afternoon, Chicago police said. At around 4:20 p.m. on August 22, the 29-year-old, later identified as Joseph Cook, was in Nichols Park, 1355 E. 53rd St., when he got into a verbal altercation with another man, according to police. The unknown man took out a firearm and shot in Cook's direction before fleeing on foot, striking him in the neck. Cook was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.
