Poet Scott Withiam to take stage during Jambalaya Horns intermission July 30
IPSWICH — What’s a poet to do while a loud and lively horn band is playing? Wait until the intermission, of course. When The Jambalaya Horns put down their instruments at the Downtown Tuesday concert on July 30, it will be Scott Withiam’s cue to step up to the microphone.

During a routine annual reappointment of committee, board and commission members on July 9 the Rockport Select Board voted 4-1 against reappointing Laura Kozachek to the Conservation Commission. Police: Bristol County man is dead after jet ski incident at Massachusetts pond
A local man is dead after an incident involving a jet ski. According to police, on Saturday, at 4:23 p.m., the Rutland Police Department and the Rutland Fire Department were dispatched to Turkey Hill Pond for a report of a jet ski that had turned over in the water, and the operator had disappeared under the water. Witnesses reported that the individual appeared to be in distress before going under.
NH community colleges freeze tuition again in 2024-25: Here's what it costs
CONCORD — The Community College System of New Hampshire, which includes Great Bay Community College, is freezing tuition for the upcoming academic year at last year’s rate, which has been unchanged since 2018. This makes the 2024-25 academic year the seventh consecutive year with flat in-state tuition of $215 per credit.
Man dies in Rutland jet ski accident
A 46-year-old Attleboro man died Saturday after his jet ski overturned in Turkey Hill Pond in Rutland, the Police Department said in a press release. Rutland police and firefighters went to the pond shortly before 4:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a man who had been operating a jet ski had disappeared under the water after appearing to be in distress.

These are some of the issues found at four of the state’s active landfills, documented by letters of deficiency sent by the Department of Environmental Services from January to June. Many of the problems centered around the management of leachate, the “trash juice” created when rainfall mixes with waste that can be highly toxic.
