In this edition of the Mayor’s Corner, Mayor Reardon is joined in the corner office by his Mayor-for-a-Day, Braeden Farrell. Braeden and his family won this honor at last November’s Newburyport Educational Foundation Annual Lighthouse Auction. Braeden is a rising 8th grader at the Nock Middle School. He and Mayor Reardon discuss the end of summer and the upcoming back-to-school schedule. Mayor Reardon attended the School Committee retreat on Monday night where topics included fundraising, the budget process, teacher negotiations, school choice and the use of phones in schools. The Police Marshal search is well underway, with an assessment center on Saturday, August 24th, followed by in-person interviews with Mayor Reardon in the coming weeks. Mayor Reardon and the City of Newburyport will host a Community Housing Forum on Wednesday, September 11th @ 7 p.m. at the Senior Community Center. Upcoming initiatives to create more housing options in Newburyport will be discussed. They will also preview the City’s new Housing Production Plan. Mayor Reardon and Braeden close by wishing everyone a very happy weekend ahead!
