HANCOCK, Md. ( DC News Now ) — With the Fourth of July upon us, communities across the region are taking time to salute our service veterans.

Hancock, Maryland has decorated Widmeyer Park, on the western edge of town, with American flags as a tribute to those who wore the uniform.

Maryland’s cannabis sales hit more than $1.1B in first year of legalization

The Hancock Rotary Club has been working on its project of planting flags all week.

“it just looks terrific,” says Mike Faith, town manager. “The public’s support has been great. Everyone loves it. You see a lot of people driving by taking pictures. So this town has a deep connection to our independence and remembering our veterans.”

Hancock has even renamed the road where Widmeyer Park is located to Veterans Memorial Parkway.
