TOWN OF HANCOCK, NY (WIVT/WBGH) — An Amazon truck was pulled out of an embankment in Hancock Thursday morning after crashing into a utility pole.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, at around 7:30 a.m. on July 18, Deputies flocked to the scene of a commercial tractor-trailer stuck in the trees of an embankment on NY-17 in Hancock. Police say the truck left the eastbound lane, drove through the guard rails over an embankment and struck a utility pole before coming to a rest in the tree line.

Following an investigation, police determined that the crash resulted from the truck driver, of Indianapolis, Indiana failing to maintain lane integrity. The truck driver was given a summons for moving from a lane unsafely, which is a violation of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

No injuries were reported and the truck was eventually dragged out of the embankment by Prestige Towing and Don Oralls Garage.

Town of Hancock Ambulance, Hancock Volunteer Fire Department, Hancock Telephone Company, New York State Police, New York State Department of Transportation all contributed to the investigation and response.
