HANFORD, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A woman was arrested in Hanford on Tuesday afternoon after allegedly kidnapping her own children and assaulting their caregiver, police say.

Officers were called to a home on the 700 block of E Myrtle Street around 4:30 p.m. regarding a possible restraining order violation.

Inside, police say they found a woman who was allegedly assaulted by 36-year-old Yabomwara Bangura who was not allowed in the home. The woman said Bangura stole her cell phone before taking off with her two children against court orders.

Officers say they later found Bangura and her children safe at another residence in the city.

According to police, Bangura tried to resist arrest but was transported to the Kings County Jail. She was booked on suspicion of probation violation, resisting a peace officer, robbery, violation of a domestic restraining order, parental kidnapping, and burglary. She was also on active Kings County probation at the time of this incident.
