Five Local Schools Land in Same 1A Substate
Class 1A Substate 6 will draw plenty of interest from those around the KCII listening area when the Iowa High School Athletic Association baseball playoffs get underway Saturday, July 6th. Five schools including Keota, Sigourney, Highland, Lone Tree and Hillcrest Academy will all start the tournament trail in the same grouping. Four of those teams, the Huskies, Lions, Savages and Ravens reside in the same district. Three of them, Sigourney, Highand and Lone Tree will begin in the same quadrant, and will be part of a doubleheader July 6th at Sigourney High School. Two of them, the Huskies and Lions will meet in that double dip.

What’s in the flood waters?
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The unknown could be lurking under the flood waters in South Dakota and Iowa. “Whatever is out in the environment, within range of flood waters could potentially be in the water,” said Jay Gilbertson, the manager of the East Dakota Water Development District.

Fake ‘shrooms’ are poisoning Iowans
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Synthetic magic mushrooms are being sold at Iowa gas stations and smoke shops, and they’re threatening people’s lives. The Health and Human Services Department issued warnings about the substances on Tuesday. The fake mushrooms have sickened people in 19 states. The latest is Iowa.
U.S. Marshals run sweep in southeast Iowa
BURLINGTON - From Apr. 29 – May 31, members of the U.S. Marshals Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force - including the USMS, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, Burlington Police Department, Fort Madison Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Department of Corrections High Risk Unit, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations – joined forces with law enforcement officers from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Keokuk Police Department, Mt. Pleasant Police Department, and the West Burlington Police Department to conduct a five-week long fugitive operation in Des Moines, Henry, and Lee counties and surrounding communities.
