While The Avalon Ale House was a hit for bringing tropical vibes north, the popular Hanover bar has now moved ever so slightly south − to Penn Township.

The grand reopening of the restaurant and bar was held on Friday, Aug. 9, at its new home in the Grandview Plaza Shopping Center at 1418 Baltimore St. in Penn Township.

The move adds much-needed space, said co-owners Matthew Albright and Jason Eckenrode.

What else you should know today:

⛈️Disaster declaration : The governor proclaimed a disaster emergency for 21 counties, including Adams County, following flooding over the weekend. Here's more.

🚴Bike raffle rescheduled: While rain cut Hanover's National Night Out short, local children will still have a chance to win the bike raffle - see when the event is here.

    A look back: peaches, again!

    Gotta love a regular tradition!

You'll probably remember that this past Thursday I featured the Hollabaugh Peach Festival in the 'things to do' section of the newsletter. That gave me a bit of a chuckle that, when looking back through the years on this day, Aug. 13, I almost immediately stumbled upon this feature written about the same festival!

I don't know about you, but I could sure go for some fresh peaches right now!

It pains me to mention 2007 in a 'look back,' but I unfortunately have to inform you that 2007 is already 17 years ago. Where did the time go?!

If any of y'all have feedback, pet photos, or questions, feel free to send them over to my email at hjones@gannett.com ! I will do my best to answer any questions if I can, and I will be happy to highlight any comments y'all might have.

That's it for your Tuesday daily briefing!
