Only a day after requesting the public's assistance with unnamed missing artifacts, the Gettysburg National Military Park is again asking for the public's help, this time in regards to vandalism at a historic barn.

According to a release by the park, between Feb. 13 and Feb. 19, 2024, law enforcement rangers are investigating vandalism that occurred to the Benner barn, located at the Josiah Benner farm, in the northern section of the battlefield

Officials are asking that anyone who was in the area of the Benner farm between Feb. 13 and 19 contact park officials.

No description of the damage done by the vandalism was provided.

The release did not share when the park service was made aware of the vandalism, or how investigators came to that timeframe.

The release follows just a day after the park issued a release regarding the theft of artifacts from the historic Timbers farm on the southern end of the battlefield between Dec. 2023 and Jan. 2024. Officials did not share what those artifacts were.

Jason Martz, spokesperson for the park, said in an email that releasing further details would be detrimental to the investigations.

Anyone with any information regarding the vandalism, or missing artifacts, is asked to contact the Adams County Crimestoppers hotline at 717-334-8057. A reward for information is being offered in regards to both the vandalism and the missing artifacts, separately.

Tips can also be submitted to accrimestoppers.com or through emailing the park at GETT_Superintendent@nps.gov.
