Police are searching for two suspects who fled a fatal crash between Taneytown and Littlestown Tuesday morning.

According to a release by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash on Route 194, Francis Scott Key Highway, just south of Kump Station Road, in Carroll County around 4:33 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024.

When officers arrived, they discovered a two-vehicle crash, with one 55-year-old male victim unresponsive in the roadway.

That victim was identified as Terry Crowl, 55, of Taneytown, according to the release. Crowl was pronounced dead around 5 a.m. as a result of the crash, the release said.

After investigation, officers determined that a 2019 black Infinity QX60 was traveling southbound on Route 194 when it crossed over the centerlines and struck Crowl on a 2022 yellow Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the release said.

The Infinity was found abandoned in the wood line near the shoulder of the road, according to the release, and officers learned the Infinity was reported stolen out of Baltimore, Maryland.

Witnesses told officers that they saw two males who appeared to be in their early 20s that fled from the Infinity after the crash.

Later, around 7:06 a.m. on Aug. 20, 2024, officers were informed that a white 2017 Ford Econoline box truck belonging to Schildwachter Plumbing had been stolen from the 4400 block of Teeter Road, in the area of the accident site.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office K9 Units, Maryland State Police Aviation, Taneytown Police Department, and a bloodhound from York County all assisted with searching for the suspects, according to the release.

Neither the suspects or the stolen box truck were located as of Tuesday morning, police said.

Police requested that anyone who observes any suspicious activity that may be related to the case contact 911.
