Almost a year after a visit from the borough police chief over tarot readings, the owner of Serpent's Key in Hanover has filed a federal lawsuit alleging civil rights violations against the police department and borough over an obscure 163-year-old state statute, which the suit asserts is unconstitutional.

The lawsuit was filed by Beck Lawrence, who uses they/them pronouns, under their legal name, Rebecca Rios, in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on Aug. 19, 2024.

Despite the department taking no enforcement measure against Lawrence, the lawsuit claims that the possibility of future enforcement is a violation of Lawrence's civil rights.

The suit says charging customers for tarot readings is vital to the business' financial viability.

The best thing I ate: Nachos!

I recently took a trip down to Columbia, Md., for a Glass Animals concert, which was amazing, but so was the food!

Whenever I go to Merriweather in Columbia, I always make sure to stop at Banditos Tacos, which is right next to the venue. It's been a real favorite of mine in that area!

These nachos were a great example of why, the corn tortilla chips are coated in Tajín seasoning, then drenched in queso, sour cream, pico, fresh cilantro, pickled jalapenos, and black beans. It's hard to overstate just how good these were!

If you're ever down in Merriweather for a concert and want nachos (or a margarita), this is the place!
