    East Berlin firefighters prevent payloader fire from spreading to facility

    Firefighters quickly extinguished a vehicle fire at a factory in East Berlin Borough on Tuesday evening, the fire department shared.

    According to Northeast Adams Fire & EMS, firefighters were called to the scene of a reported vehicle fire that was impinging on a structure at the Penwood Products facility located on the 100 block of Locust Street in East Berlin Borough around 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024.

    When the department arrived, firefighters found a payloader on fire next to a silo at the facility, and quickly knocked down the flames.

    The quick action of firefighters prevented the fire from extending into the silo, the department said, and no damage was reported beyond the payloader.

    No injuries were reported in the fire.

    According to the website for the company , Penwood Products has manufactured prefinished hardwood moldings in East Berlin since its founding in 1942.
