After decades of decay, the contaminated site of a former foundry in Adams County will soon be rehabilitated, thanks to grants and loans from the state.

The Adams County Industrial Development Authority (ACIDA) announced that they have been awarded a $1.4 million dollar loan and a $956,666-dollar grant as part of the Business in Our Sites program from the state to fund redeveloping the former Gettysburg Foundry site in Freedom Township.

The blighted 48-acre site was left uninhabitable after the foundry closed in the 1990s when it was discovered that hazardous waste was improperly discarded on the property, the ACIDA said in a release.

The best thing I ate: Five Loaves!

It's pretty much impossible to overstate how good this sandwich was! My phone photo doesn't do it justice.

The other day I took a quick stop over to Deja Brew and Five Loaves Sandwiches in New Oxford's circle to grab breakfast, and man was it delicious!

At Deja Brew, I got my usual favorite, a raspberry Red Bull Creamosa, which is a redbull mixed with cream and flavorings. It's basically an energy version of an Italian cream soda, and it's always delicious! Next I stopped over to Five Loaves next door, which is owned by the same owners, and picked up the "Tuscan Sunrise" sandwich on a croissant.

Easily one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had from anywhere! It's two eggs, sun-dried tomato, spinach, feta cheese, and pesto.

A plus for anyone with allergen sensitivities, Five Loaves and Deja Brew have fantastic gluten-free options, which I have to give them major props for.

If any of y'all have feedback, pet photos, or questions, feel free to send them over to my email at hjones@gannett.com ! I will do my best to answer any questions if I can, and I will be happy to highlight any comments y'all might have.

That's it for your Monday Daily Briefing! See you tomorrow!
