The Rock County Public Health Department said residents in Hanover and the town of Plymouth should consider boiling water before consuming it after concerns of potential contamination of wells due to recent flooding.

Hanover is southeast of Footville and southwest of the city of Janesville.

It is recommended to boil water until well testing can verify potential water quality risks. There is currently no known impact to wells, but with recent flooding and sewer backup concerns, the precautionary measures are justified until water quality can be verified, the county said.

Refer to the town of Plymouth website — plymouthrockwi.gov — to determine if you are in this advisory area.
