Janesville man arrested on 6th OWI charge
A 45-year-old Janesville man is facing a variety of charges after being arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 6th offense. A Janesville police news release says about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, an officer stopped Joaquin Tomas Sipriano for speeding at East Milwaukee Street and North Parker Drive. The release reports Sipriano had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person, and during the stop refused to exit the vehicle and put it into drive in an attempt to leave. Once out of the vehicle, police say Sipriano failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested on charges including Operating while intoxicated, Failing to Install an Ignition Interlock Device, and Resisting an Officer. Sipriano was also currently out of jail on bond for other charges of Operating while Intoxicated.

School District of Elcho receives grant from Dollar General for school materials
(WSAW) - The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded more than $35,000 in youth literacy grants to Wisconsin nonprofit organizations, libraries, and schools. The funds are part of more than $4 million recently awarded across the country for recipients to use the funds to purchase books, technology, equipment, or materials to help extend a brighter future for K-12 students.
Wisconsin mother highlights effects of lead poisoning at Democratic National Convention
On Wednesday night, Milwaukee mother Deanna Branch stood before thousands of Democratic delegates to explain the dangers of lead pipes in Wisconsin. For 11 years, the mother of three has highlighted her family’s health problems. Onstage, she told the country that when her son Aiden was 2 years old, he was hospitalized twice for having high levels of lead in his blood.
