Paraglider critically injured in July 19 accident
A 33-year-old man has been hospitalized with “life-threatening” injuries after falling from his troubled paraglider after his parachute failed to open. According to a Dane County Sheriff’s Office news release, at 8:24 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with EMS, responded to the area of 457 Union Road in the town of Oregon for a paraglider who was injured when his parachute did not deploy.

New ALDI location opening in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Starting on July 25, those who shop at ALDI’s grocery store now have a new location to go to in La Crosse. The store is located at 4344 Mormon Coulee Road, and will have its ribbon cutting ceremony July 25 at 8:00 a.m., with the store opening after the ceremony. The first 100 customers in line will receive a “Golden Ticket” that could be worth up to $100.
Viroqua Municipal Court could fold if replacement judge not found
VIROQUA, Wis. – The decision by a local attorney to step down as judge for the Hidden Valleys Municipal Court system is impacting four communities that are a part of that system. Local Attorney Nikki Swayne decided to step down as Municipal Judge for the Hidden Valleys last spring when she did not run for re-election. No one stepped up to run for that seat and the city run Municipal Court has yet to find a someone to replace Swayne, creating a backlog of municipal cases for several communities.
