Wet weather again Saturday afternoon
NEW ORLEANS — We are already seeing a few showers early on Saturday morning, moving quickly through the area from the southwest to the northeast. Although we will have a few passing showers early today, the best chance for rain comes in the afternoon, and the showers will happen pretty quickly. Showers and thunderstorms will be fairly numerous throughout most of the afternoon Saturday, with the chance of rain officially at 70%. There’s also a small chance again for some localized flooding as the showers will be fairly widespread, and the ground is already saturated in many areas.
Over 60 local kids to compete at Junior Olympics
NEW ORLEANS — 60 local track and field athletes will be competing in the USATF National Junior Olympics this weekend. They are all part of Team NOLA Rush. “Seeing their confidence in themselves just explode is amazing and then them getting to go and compete against some of the best kids in the nation. That's just icing on the cake,” said Joseph Gillenwater, one of the founders of the non-profit NOLA Rush.

Leah Chase School hits enrollment milestone, despite doubts
New Orleans’ first direct-run school in nearly two decades cleared an important hurdle this week: Enrolling enough students. The new school, named for New Orleans chef Leah Chase, had 252 students registered as of Thursday. Another 30 kids are expected to attend, but still need to complete the enrollment process.
