Rickner sentenced for matricide and related felonies
Convicted murderer Matthew Earl Rickner, 30, was sentenced a total of 60 years, six months for matricide, the shooting of Phyllis Rickner, his mother, last December 29. Rickner was given the maximum sentence of 40 years to Life for Count 1, violation of Penal Code 187 by Superior Court Judge Darren McElfresh. Oregon State Police radio traffic regarding a drowning at the Lobster Creek gravel bar area for the second time in less than two weeks, was overheard early Sunday afternoon, July 14th, by the Curry County Sheriff’s Dispatch and patrol deputies, Gold Beach Fire Department and Cal Ore Life Flight were dispatched nine miles east of Gold Beach just after 1:30pm.

Oregon Health Authority needs more language and behavioral health services, report says
The Oregon Health Authority needs to step up efforts to provide health care for Oregonians who speak different languages and to expand access to behavioral health care treatment, a new state report found. Stanley fire doubles in size over the weekend; Cow Valley fire in eastern Oregon at 130,000 acres
If it's not already clear from the smoke in the air, wildfire season has begun. Over the weekend several wildfires, including one in Stanley, have grown significantly in size. The Bench Lake fire, in Stanley and the Sawtooth National Forest, started on July 11 around noon and although Idaho saw cooler temperatures on Sunday, the Bench Lake fire doubled in size over the weekend.
