ERIE, PA (WJET)–The Harbor Creek Softball team finally got the chance to celebrate their 3A PIAA state champion with the community.

On Wednesday, the Huskies softball team and their supporters rallied together at Millcreek Mall’s center court to commemorate Harbor Creek’s historic season.

In June Harbor Creek played for the state title against Juniata at Penn State University.

The Huskies were crowded 3A PIAA state champions with a 1-0 nine inning victory.

At the championship rally, State Representative Bob Merski awarded the team with citations.

The Millcreek Mall and Cafaro Foundation presented a $10,000 check to Harbor Creek High School.

Each player even walked away with a $15 mall gift card.

“We talked about how the girls brought a community together for an epic playoff run. Bringing a community together in this society is really really hard and they did it. We all united as one and we wanted our one dream to win a state championship and they did it…

It’s a tremendous donation. We want to thank the Cafaro Foundation for the $10,000 donation to our softball team. It’s going to be used greatly as we go on our spring trip and the girls need rings.  We are very blessed and fortunate, and we want to thank the Cafaro Foundation for this.”

Tim Caputo, Harbor Creek head softball coach

“It feels amazing you know our team worked so hard. We lost D-10 finals to Sharon which was an amazing game and an amazing team but winning it all felt even better.”

    Annabella Cipalla, Harbor Creek Senior
