Arrest Made in Fatal Bolivar Dog Attack
A dog owner was arrested after her dogs were deemed responsible for the death of Theresa Rhodes, following the early morning attack on Monday, July 1, 2024. The dogs’ owner, Antoinette Pirtle, was arrested on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, and charged with Dogs Not Allowed at Large (Resulting in Death). She was booked into the Hardeman County Criminal Justice Complex and later released on a $5,000 bond.

Summer Reading Program Begins at Bolivar Library
This year’s summer reading programs started across the county last week. The Bolivar Hardeman County Library kicked off their program with Professor Graybeard-the Science Guy from Nashville. He had the children assist him with various science experiments and even got the library’s director, Jessica Phillips, involved in one of the experiments. The next program is scheduled for July 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the library with the Chickasaw Zoo. Woman Mauled to Death by Two Dogs in West Tennessee
A woman tragically lost her life after being attacked and mauled by two dogs in West Tennessee. The incident, which led to one of the dogs being shot and injured by a police officer, occurred early Monday morning in Bolivar, a city located in Hardeman County, about 70 miles northeast of Memphis.
