Roadwork to Impact Johnson City Motorists
There will be a couple of roadwork projects that will impact Johnson City drivers over the next few days. The first is a road pavement project on Deyo Hill Road on Wednesday, July 24th. This project will begin at the village line and continue to the intersection of Reynolds Road. Work on this project is expected to be completed by Thursday. Traffic will be limited to local traffic only and drivers can expect timely delays and are asked to seek alternate routes if possible.
Another Major Heat Wave to Scorch Central New York Next Week
Get ready to get blasted by scorching temperatures and uncomfortable humidity because some of the hottest temperatures of the summer are around the corner. The National Weather Service confirmed Central New York will bake again with the fourth heat wave of the summer arriving early next week. Currently, they're calling for temperatures to be back in the 90s, courtesy of all the hot air blowing in from the western part of the country.

A local organization helps people with mobility impairments get active, with a special event this month splashing into late July. Individual Abilities in Motion, or I AM for short, is a nonprofit organization that supports those in the area with mobility impairments, including spinal cord injuries, amputations, Parkinson's disease and more, empowering them to live their lives to the fullest.

Camp Cadet in focus
For more than 30 years, boys and girls from 12 to 15 have been attending State Police Troop R Camp Cadet for one week each summer, experiencing hands-on activities and learning teamwork and discipline. This year camp is being held at Marywood University, where participants engage in daily activities which include a 2-mile run and physical fitness routines. Campers are also treated to presentations from agencies from various fields, including law enforcement and emergency services personnel. On Thursday, campers visited a shooting range. The week long adventure will conclude on Friday.
