Dietrich open mic night to feature the Corbys
Open mic night is back at the Dietrich Theater in downtown Tunkhannock and open to audiences and performers of all ages. Musicians, poets, comedians and performers of all types are invited to share their talents on the Dietrich stage. This month’s headliner is Tunkhannock’s own Kristyn and Reed Corby.
Nesquehoning rallies to raise funds for Go Joe 27 tour
It was a day of coming together for a good cause. On Wednesday, hundreds of residents from around the area gathered outside Narrow Valley Sportsplex in Nesquehoning to welcome WNEP meteorologist Joe Snedeker on his next leg of Go Joe 27, a bicycle fundraiser he completes to raise money for the St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton. The center serves people who are diagnosed with intellectual disability and those who seek pregnancy support, adoption assistance, outpatient therapy or medical day care services.

The Wayne County Fair, in its 162-year history, has been synonymous with promotion of this county's long agricultural heritage, the displays of livestock remaining a popular attraction. The presence of 4-H and FFA is strong, with young people bringing farm animals they have raised for showing and auctioning on the last day of the fair.

41 year old Willis Bickham Jr, of Binghamton, was found guilty of 1st Degree Rape, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child by a Broome County Jury Thursday. On June 24, 2023, Bickham Jr. took a 12-year-old child into an apartment at 2 Green Street in Binghamton and engaged in sexual acts. Sentencing is scheduled for October 24, 2024 where Bickham is facing up to 25 years in State Prison followed by 10 to 25 years of post-release supervision, and he must register as a Sex Offender with the state. Due to his criminal history, the Broome County District Attorney’s Office will pursue a sentence of 25 years to life under the Persistent Felony Offender guidelines.

100 Years Ago is brought to you by Broome Recycles. 100 years ago today, at 1:45 this afternoon, factory whistles blew throughout the city, to announce the arrival of the Shenandoah – the giant Navy dirigible. Within minutes the giant blimp appeared over the Court Street bridge and slowly passed over the central part of this city as thousands of people watched. One of the crew members is a Binghamton boy, and he dropped letters to his friends as it went over. The dirigible then went on to Endicott before turning south.

Child suffers minor injuries in fall at Glen
WAVERLY — A five-year-old Waverly boy was fortunate to suffer only minor injuries Thursday after a fall near the waterfall at Waverly Glen Park. According to Waverly Police, at 10:44 a.m. officers responded to a report of a child who had fallen 30 feet from the area of the waterfall at the park. Also responded to the scene were personnel from the Waverly-Barton Fire District and Greater Valley EMS.
Binghamton Man Charged After Firing Gun Into Residence
Johnson City Police say a Binghamton man is in custody after firing a gun inside a Johnson City residence late last week. According to police, they responded to a report of a man with a gun on Allen Street around 11:40 p.m. on Friday, July 17th. As they were responding, it was reported that the male had fired the gun into a residence and left the scene.
