Webb heads into Calloway AD tenure quite familiar with its programs
MURRAY — Many people may find it very strange that longtime Calloway County athletics coach Troy Webb is actually not a Laker alum. He actually comes from Muhlenberg County — long-since-departed Muhlenberg Central, to be exact, near Greenville —where he played baseball and basketball and ran on the cross-country team. Webb also has a well-known Kentucky coach to call as a former teammate for Muhlenberg’s American Legion baseball team back in the late 1970s, Ray Harper (who played at tiny Bremen, one of eight campuses that eventually formed the current Muhlenberg County High School), current Jacksonville State head men’s basketball coach, who also won two NCAA Division 2 national titles at Kentucky Wesleyan in Owensboro.
