Incident at Bradshaw Park Thursday Morning Leads to Arrest; Carmi Police Make Warrant Arrest
An incident at Bradshaw Park just before 10am Thursday has landed a Greenville, Kentucky man behind bars. Carmi Police were dispatched to the recreational area on a report of a disturbance. According to witnesses who were there, we’ve learned the man identified as 61-year-old Troy Lynn Mercer approached the tennis courts where a tennis camp was taking place. A witness says Mercer then allegedly told a woman with the tennis camp that he had a box with a bomb and proceeded to go to his car and brought a box back with him. While this was occurring, two high schoolers helping with the camp gathered youngsters and moved them to a safe area while the teacher called authorities. An officer arrived, conducted a brief investigation and determined Mercer was a felon and in possession of ammunition. The report from Carmi Police indicates an ambulance was called to evaluate Mercer’s mental state. He was then arrested and taken to the White County Jail where the report says Mercer spit on and kicked a deputy sheriff leading to additional charges. In all, Mercer is being charged with Disorderly Conduct, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition by a Felon, and 3 counts of Aggravated Battery of a Police Officer. Mercer remains behind bars.
