Lonsdale Community Days grand marshal announced
Scott Pelava, owner of Lonsdale Auto Works, was chosen as the 2024 grand marshal for Lonsdale Community Days, happening on Saturday, August 10. Pelava opened Lonsdale Auto Works in 2005, providing service to the Lonsdale area for 19 years so far. He has been an active member of the Lonsdale Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC), serving two terms on the board of directors for them. Man carjacked, shot near Loring Park
MINNEAPOLIS — A man is fighting for his life after apparently being carjacked and shot overnight near Loring Park in Minneapolis. Police said in a release that officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Oak Grove St. just before 2 a.m. on reports of a shooting. Arriving squads found a man suffering from apparent life-threatening gunshot wounds, and started lifesaving efforts until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.
New tower aims to bring chimney swifts back to Delano
People in downtown Delano may have noticed a new tower on the levee between the Riverside Commons building and the South Fork of the Crow River. That tower, visible from Riverfront Park, was designed to be a habitat for chimney swifts. The birds, once common in the area, have disappeared due to people capping their chimneys, eliminating their roosting and breeding sites.
