    Two NEPA women honored during Women’s Veteran’s Day

    EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — On Thursday, Pennsylvania female military veterans were honored in Harrisburg.

    Governor Shapiro said there are 70,000 in Pennsylvania and their stories are not told often enough.

    Pennsylvania is one of about 25 states that recognizes June 12 as Women’s Veterans Day.

    Veterans Views

    Among those honored from Northeast PA are Celeste Brucklacher, U.S. Navy, Lycoming County and Virginia York, U.S. Navy, Susquehanna County.

    Organizers say this was the first time female veterans have been honored in the state outside of Women’s History Month in March.

    The following is the list of the 2024 honorees:

    • Celeste Brucklacher, U.S. Navy, Lycoming County
    • Misty Callahan, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Fayette County
    • Paula E. Crawford-Gamble, U.S. Navy, Berks County
    • Cheryl Foreman Grosso, U.S. Army, Delaware County
    • Tina Hopper, U.S. Marine Corps, Erie County
    • Linda Ann Lehman, U.S. Army, Dauphin County
    • Jessica Purdy, U.S. Army, Lancaster County
    • Nicole Reigelman, Pennsylvania Air National Guard, Cumberland County
    • Maria C. Rodriguez, U.S. Army, Lancaster County
    • Jill Smallwood, U.S. Army, Allegheny County
    • Sandra Soloski, U.S. Army, Allegheny County
    • Dorey Stabile, U.S. Army, Westmoreland County
    • Kandra Marie Strothers, U.S. Army, Allegheny County
