HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Multiple teenagers were charged from the incidents that led to the early ending of the huge fireworks show Thursday night in Harrisburg, officials say.

According to the Dauphin County District Attorney’s office, an 18-year-old, a 16-year-old, and a 15-year-old were arrested by Harrisburg Police over safety concerns that involved guns and firecrackers.

Police said they had become aware that some attendees had weapons and recovered a pistol and a BB gun. A third gun was thrown in the river, according to a city spokesperson, and a diver had been looking for it on Friday morning.

The 18-year-old is charged with evading arrest or detention on foot; the 16-year-old is charged with possession of a firearm by a minor, carrying a firearm without a license, tampering with evidence and evading arrest or detention on foot; and the 15-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm by a minor and carrying a firearm without a license, the DA’s office said.

The names of each of the teens were not released.

Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams called out parents in a press conference on Friday saying they need to do better.

“It is time for the parents in Harrisburg to take charge and start working with us because the way this keeps going, where do you think your kids are going to end up at,” Williams said. “What in the world is your child doing carrying an automatic weapon into a crowd of people or throwing firecrackers on the ground scaring people to death, thinking someone is popping off a gun? Or running with a crew at one in the morning, looking for trouble? Is that the young man or young lady you raised?”

The only person injured in the incident was Mayor Williams when someone ran through the area where she was sitting and knocked her over. She walked into Friday’s press conference with a notable limp.
