CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A UPS driver in Cumberland County was caught allegedly throwing multiple packages in a dumpster, according to police.

Richard Moore, 60, of Harrisburg, is accused of throwing six packages that were supposed to be delivered to a business in a dumpster at a separate company on July 9, Silver Spring Township Police said in the charges filed Thursday.

Surveillance video captured a UPS truck drive to the back of the company along State Road, and the driver got out and threw the unopened boxes in the dumpster, police said.

Moore could be seen grabbing five boxes from the passenger side of the truck and tossing them in the dumpster. Then he opened the rear hatch, grabbed another box, and threw that also in the dumpster, according to police.

The six boxes were worth a total of $1,350, police said.

Those packages were supposed to go to a company in Mechanicsburg, which police then contacted and learned the business was missing six packages.

Police said Moore was also seen returning to the dumpster in a BMW and he admitted in an interview that he tried to get the boxes back to return them.

Moore faces two misdemeanor charges of theft by unlawful taking and theft of mail.
