HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that it will host a hiring event for CDL operators and diesel mechanics.

According to PennDOT, the hiring event for job seekers will held at the offices of PennDOT Engineering District 8, at 2140 Herr Street , Harrisburg from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24.

Guests should enter the building at the visitor entrance next to the parking lot.

PennDOT says the event will be for those interested in learning about winter temporary and permanent CDL operator (starting pay is $22.49/hr.) and diesel equipment mechanic positions (starting pay is $27.75/hr.)

Staff will be available to discuss current and future openings within the Commonwealth for CDL operators, who are required to have a valid PA CDL Class A or B with air brake restriction removed.

They will also be able to speak with diesel equipment mechanics who are required to have a valid CDL and a PA Class 7 inspector mechanic certification.

Both positions much have a current medical examiner certificate as well.

According to PennDOT, On-the-spot applications, interviews, and driving skills testing will take place during the event. All applicants need to bring their current CDL license and medical examiners card.

Applicants are encouraged to create an account with employment.pa.gov prior to the event.
