DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Dauphin County man has qualified and, in a few weeks, will be on his way to Paris to compete in the 2024 Paralympics.

“I’ll be competing in para-cycling,” said Cody Wills of Harrisburg. “I’m in the men’s H2 class. It has been a long process getting here with the training, the racing and just getting to this point, but I also feel like this is just the beginning.”

Wills told abc27 News, he was an avid motor cross racer, until a serious injury changed everything.

How did the name “Tenty McTentface” happen?

“I have a C6 and complete spinal cord injury, so I’m paralyzed like roughly from my chest down,” Wills said. “And I have some limited hand function and in para-cycling when they go through a classification process and we’re put into a class where we’re racing against other people with the same amount of function as us, or at least similar amount of function, similar injury levels and for me, like once I found hand cycling and something that I could push myself with training and competing again, like it just stopped, like I love that part of it.”

Wills says he started para-cycling in 2018 and he hasn’t stopped ever since.

“So, I work with head coach from Team USA,” added Wills. “I’m on my bike six days a week, strength training, another three days a week, and then various other things that I do outside of that for recovery and just mobility and making sure I can maintain that amount of training. I’m still new to the sport so realistic expectations, but my goal would be to medal, to bring a medal home.”
