CHARLESTON W.Va. (WVDN) – The West Virginia Democratic Party is deeply saddened to announce the passing of former Delegate Ron Fragale, a dedicated public servant whose contributions to our state have left an indelible mark. Ron Fragale, who served Harrison County in the House of Delegates for 20 years, including his distinguished role as Speaker Pro Tempore, passed away recently.

Former Speaker of the House Tim Miley expressed his heartfelt condolences, saying, “ I am deeply saddened by the news of Ron Fragale’s recent death. Ron’s unwavering dedication to serving Harrison County in the House of Delegates for 20 years, culminating in his role as Speaker Pro Tem, exemplified his commitment to the working men and women of West Virginia. His friendship and encouragement in 2004 was the reason I entered politics. Ron’s profound love for his wife, Christine, and daughter, Veronica, was always evident, and his absence will be felt by his family and the entire community he served with such dedication.

State Senator Mike Caputo said, “Ron was the first person I met when I got elected to the House in ‘96. He took me by the hand, mentored me and taught the in’s and out’s of the process. He was a true leader and represented his district with all he had. WV is a better place because of Ron. He will be sorely missed. Tina and I would like to offer our deepest, heartfelt condolences to Christine, Veronica and the entire Fragale family.”

In addition to serving in the legislature, Fragale was a beloved teacher and head basketball coach at South Harrison High School and Washington Irving High School. His passion for education and sports inspired many young lives and contributed significantly to the community.

Former West Virginia Speaker of the House Rick Thompson expressed heartfelt condolences on the passing of former Delegate Fragale, highlighting his invaluable contributions to the leadership team. “Ron was more than a colleague; he was a coach to us all,” Thompson said. “His wisdom, dedication, and unwavering support shaped our paths and strengthened our resolve to serve the people of West Virginia.”

West Virginia Democratic Party Chair Mike Pushkin added, “Ron Fragale’s legacy is one of service, dedication, and love for his family and community. He will be remembered not only for his significant contributions to the legislative process but also for his deep commitment to the people of West Virginia. The West Virginia Democratic Party extends its deepest sympathies to Ron Fragale’s family, friends, and all who were touched by his life and work. His memory will continue to inspire us all to strive for a better West Virginia.”
