Second Citizens Sheriff's Academy in Harrison County Set to Begin August 5; Applications Being Accepted
Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny is pleased to announce the opening of the second Citizen Sheriff’s Academy. This academy will allow business, religious, civic, and community leaders an inside look at the operation of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. The academy will consist of eight weeks of instruction and information, beginning on August 5, 2024 and conclude with a graduation ceremony on September 30, 2024. There is no charge for the academy.
Man accused of slaying mother waives probable cause hearing in Harrison County, West Virginia
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — A 22-year-old Lost Creek man accused of murdering his mother has waived his probable cause hearing. The waiver by George Alexander Hoffman before Harrison Magistrate Kimberly Wygal sends the case to Harrison County Circuit Court. There, Prosecutor Rachel Romano and her chief assistant, Laura Pickens, could present it as early as September to grand jurors.

Clear Mountain Bank officials have announced that Bridgeport resident Tim Stout has been named to the bank’s Community Advisory Board. Stout has been with Clear Mountain Bank since 2015 and has more than 30 years of banking experience. He most recently served as Clear Mountain’s Vice President of Regional Development, and his appointment to the Community Advisory Board is part of a new role in which he will work to foster customer relationships while providing support and guidance to bank team members in the central and north-central West Virginia markets.
