HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — Residents in a portion of Montgomery County are able to receive an installation of a free smoke detector.

As a part of federal funding, the Harrison Township Fire Department is offering residents in Harrison Twp. free smoke detectors. According to HTFD, residents are able to have the detectors, which are expected to last 10 years, installed inside of their home by trained firefighters.

“Injuries and fatalities that occur in the home due to the resident not being alerted by a working smoke detector need to be a thing of the past,” HTFD said.

During the decade, HTFD claims neither monthly tests nor battery changes will be required for the detector.
