Final preparations begin for Ritchie County Fair

HARRISVILLE, W.Va. (WBOY) — The WVU Ritchie County Extension office and the Ritchie County Fair Board are hard at work preparing the Ritchie County 4-H grounds for the fair which is set to begin on Thursday.

Tuesday’s work included the 4-H Projects and Exhibit Check-in from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Exhibits at this year’s fair include Arts and Crafts, Baked Goods, Flowers, Quilts, Horseradish Pickles, and Canned Fruit and Vegetables.

On Thursday, the fair will officially open at 4 p.m. Drag Racing will be held at 7 p.m. alongside carnival rides which will be offered Thursday through Saturday as well as Championship Bull Riding, which will be held Friday and Saturday starting at 7 p.m.

“For a lot of these 4-H kids this is, they work their entire year, all year round to get their livestock ready for the shows and the sales and having the community out to support them is so beneficial for them,” Miss Ritchie County Fair Peyton Kuhn said. “It really brings us all together. It gives us all an opportunity to gather, and it gives us opportunities to have all of our vendors and our musicians work together and get to show their talents.”
