Another Earthquake Felt in Lubbock, Stronger Than Monday’s
This seems to be the week of earthquakes here in West Texas as Lubbock was once again shaking on Friday, July 26, 2024. We just felt an earthquake in Lubbock on Monday, July 22, 2024. It reached a 4.9-magnitude with its epicenter located west of Abilene, Texas, near Hermleigh, Texas. There were also two additional aftershocks that reached around 3.1 magnitude each. These aftershocks were felt as far away as Amarillo and Austin, with more aftershocks occurring into Tuesday morning.

5.0-magnitude earthquake hits Texas Friday morning
SCURRY COUNTY, Texas — Another earthquake hit West Texas Friday morning, causing tremors felt across the area. The United State Geological Survey initially reported the earthquake at 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale at 9:28 a.m. Friday about 9.2 miles northeast of Hermleigh. Later, the agency said the mainshock of the event was registered at 5.0 on the Richter scale. It was then upgraded to a 5.1 magnitude by the USGS.
