Harrington on CSC Academic All-American Third Team
Outgoing Southern Arkansas senior golfer Connor Harrington has been named to the College Sports Communicators Men's At-Large Academic All-American Third Team. Harrington adds to his already stocked up resume from 2023-24 as the Magnolia native has been named a GAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete, the Murphy USA Male Scholar Athlete of the Year award recipient (Seventh Annual Mulespys), and now an Academic All-American.
Hafertepe Jr. Dominates 81 Speedway for Third-Straight Victory
Sam Hafertepe Jr.’s first three wins of the season on the American Sprint Car Series National Tour came consecutively in June, and history repeated itself Saturday night. The five-time Series champion led every lap at 81 Speedway en route to his third-straight Feature win and sixth of the season.

Emma Kate McBride has been chosen as a National Junior College Athletic Association (NCJAA) Academic All-American. The 2023 Weston High School graduate, who now plays for South Arkansas Community College in Eldorado, AR, earned second team Academic All-American status after compiling a 3.90 grade point average during her freshman year.

Subject of manhunt at Mercy Fort Smith had painted water pistol
FORT SMITH, Ark. — The subject of a manhunt at Mercy Hospital was found at the educational wing of the hospital, Aric Mitchell with the Fort Smith police department, said. Johnny West, 34, was found at about 1:30 p.m., hours after the hospital went on lockdown. People inside the hospital were warned to find a safe place to hide and to create barricades.
