Authorities are looking for whoever abandoned a dog in a crate in West Hartford on Wednesday.

The animal was found dumped at Beachland Park near the playscape just before 2:30 p.m., according to West Hartford Animal Control .

Animal control officers are seeking information from the public about the animal or its owner.

“Please only call with information, not adoption inquiries,” West Hartford Animal Control said in a Facebook post.

Animal rights advocates with Desmond’s Army have offered a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for abandoning the King Charles Cavalier. The reward will be rescinded after 90 days, the group said.

Anyone with information has been asked to call the West Hartford Police Department at 860-523-5203.
