Sally’s Apizza , the iconic New-Haven pizza restaurant, is set to open in Wethersfield on Thursday.

Located on the ground level of a residential complex, The Borden at 1178 Silas Deane Highway, Sally’s opening in Wethersfield marks the first of four Hartford area locations including Farmington, Newington, and South Windsor, according to Jessica Klein, spokesperson for the company. The iconic pizza restaurant announced its expansion into the Greater Hartford area last year. The restaurant plans on opening its doors at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29.

Sally’s Apizza, with its original Wooster Street location in New Haven, has also expanded with stores in Stamford and Fairfield in recent years. Earlier this year, the restaurant announced new locations in Massachusetts. Sally’s, a nationally recognized pizzeria, has been featured in numerous media, including documentaries and on the Food Network.

Executive chef Bret Lunsford has created many new additions for the restaurant’s Wethersfield menu. New plates include a variety of starters and salads like Italian wings with calabrian chili; meatballs served in marinara and accompanied with house-made focaccia; a wedge and caesar salad as well as a selection of bruschettas, including tomato and eggplant. An expanded entree section features both chicken and eggplant parmesan, two pastas including, a ricotta-filled ravioli and a chicken francese.

But Klein said Sally’s in Wethersfield will continue to cater to its main attraction: pizza.

“Nine pizzas are on the menu including the classic tomato sauce pie, mozzarella and tomato and potato and rosemary. A rotating selection of up-to-three additional seasonal pies will also always be available. Made to order in three sizes, all pizzas are handmade and coal-fired, characterized by a thin charred crust, tangy tomato sauce and a light touch of mozz that New Haven-style pizzas are known for,” Klein told the Courant.

The restaurant features a full cocktail bar with an expanded wine list, Klein said. Classic cocktails, a dedicated “Spruzzo” section, mocktails, draft beer and fountain sodas, including New Haven original Foxon Park, are all on the menu.

Sally’s Apizza Wethersfield has a dining room that seats up to 85 guests, with an additional nine-seat bar. An outdoor patio, that can hold nearly 40 guests, will open in spring 2025, according to the company.

Sally’s Apizza in Wethersfield is located at 1178 Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield, and will open on Thursday at 5 p.m. Sally’s is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations can be made online beginning Friday, Aug. 30, at sallysapizza.com .
