    Police: CT man on dirt bike shot, killed by individual following him in vehicle

    A man on a dirt bike was shot and killed in New Haven on Wednesday afternoon by someone who was reportedly following him in a vehicle before the slaying.

    Officers responded to reports of a person being shot minutes after noon in the area of Ferry Street and Wolcott Street, according to the New Haven Police Department . Police said callers reported seeing a man on a dirt bike who was shot by an individual in a vehicle who appeared to be following him.

    Responding officers located the gunshot victim and established a crime scene. The man was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Niygere L. Wicker of New Haven, according to police.

    Detectives responded and were able to identify a suspect vehicle, police said.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
