HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The City of Hartford is bringing back a decades-old summer program called “Night Gyms” for youth in the area.

The city will have pools and gyms open in the evenings all summer long. The program is a collaboration between Mayor Arunan Arulampalam, the Justice Education Center and “Active City” to keep kids entertained and off the streets.

“To have this safe space, to have this refuge every night this summer just allows them a place they can be kids, to be themselves…. healthy and productive ways and that’s so important for our kids,” Arulampalam said. “We need to provide them with good opportunities and the chance to make good choices.”
