MOVE! returns to Keney Park for another day of fitness in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Morning storms didn’t stop a crowd from coming out to Keney Park and getting active Saturday morning at the third annual MOVE! with the Urban League of Greater Hartford.

MOVE! featured a full day of fitness-based activities that began with a 5k for the adults and a fun run for the kids. The heart of the event was the Movement Festival that featured live entertainment, fresh produce, yoga demonstrations and fitness resources.

One of the runners, Cassondra Brayfield, told News 8 that MOVE! “…means a lot. I mean, it was raining. I am literally soaked all the way. But you start sweating and you get here and there’s just a party at the end. Completely worth it… Not to mention the amazing charity.”

The ULGH partnered with the Hartford Marathon Foundation to produce the event. Josh Miller, president of the HMF, said “We’re proud to partner with the Urban League again on this great event that so strongly reflects our mission to promote healthy living through fitness and physical activity for people of all experiences, backgrounds and abilities.”

Also at the event were teams of young adults competing in the Urban League Young Professionals YP Games.

After 60 years of community service the Urban League of Greater Hartford intends for next year’s event to be even bigger and better.
