People can no longer comment on the City of Rochester's social media posts
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The City of Rochester is ending all comments on its social media pages. Mayor Kim Norton will also discontinue comments on her page. “The City of Rochester believes it is important to help support and foster a safe and inclusive community,” says City Administrator Alison Zelms. “Unfortunately, like other communities across the state of Minnesota and the nation, we have seen comments and activity via our social media channels that is counterproductive to those efforts. Discontinuing the use of comments effectively reduces the potential for harmful content and negative interactions because it removes an unmoderated and monitored forum for those activities.”
Second suspect charged in drive-by shooting case enters guilty plea
(ABC 6 News) – The second suspect charged in a Sept. 2023 drive-by shooting entered a guilty plea in Olmsted County Court Wednesday. Anthony Lavell Frazier Jr., 20, pleaded guilty to a single charge of dangerous weapons–drive-by shooting toward an occupied motor vehicle or building related to a Sept. 25 incident on Chardonnay Lane NW, Rochester.

Prairie drawing exhibition opens in Lanesboro Aug. 17
Lanesboro Arts presents “Traces of a Prairie,” an exhibition of large-scale graphite drawings by Lois Peterson. The exhibition runs from August 17 to October 20 with an opening reception on August 17 from 6-8 p.m. Attendees can enjoy conversations with the artist and live music by Kristin Eggen and friends. FARIBAULT, Minn. — A man who held up traffic on Interstate 35 near Faribault for hours on Sunday had more than 40 pounds of meth in his vehicle, charging documents filed in Rice County allege.A 42-year-old man from Minneapolis is facing multiple felony drug charges and a charge for illegally possessing a firearm as a felon convicted of a crime of violence.Charges say law enforcement attempted to stop the man's vehicle on I-35 in Steele County by using stop sticks. Missing Minnesota college student found in Montana creek
(Cooke City, MT) -- Authorities in Montana report finding the body of a college student from Minnesota who had been missing nearly two weeks. Red Lodge Fire Rescue says search crews spotted the body of Dylan Honnell of Rogers in East Rosebud Creek Tuesday and a helicopter team helped recover his body Wednesday morning. Investigators said Honnell fell into the rapids on the creek while hiking on July 12th. Twenty-year-old Honnell was a sophomore at Montana State University and a 2022 graduate of Rogers High School.
Man Reported Missing in Central Minnesota, Public Assistance Sought
(KNSI) – A 61-year-old man has been reported missing after last being seen in central Minnesota. The Lino Lakes Police Department says Thomas George Biatek left his home around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday to buy a battery for a waiting contractor. He never returned home. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says he is considered an endangered missing adult, and they are asking for the public’s help to find him.
