BRIGHTON TWP. — A local man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday on eastbound I-96 in Brighton Township, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at 4:52 a.m. Saturday, July 20, to a single vehicle crash on eastbound I-96 at the Kensington Road overpass in Brighton Township.

The victim was a 22-year-old Hartland Township man, according to LCSO. He was the driver and only person in the vehicle. Police don't believe the man was wearing his seatbelt. They added he suffered from epilepsy and seizures, but it's unknown if he was experiencing a medical emergency at the time of the crash.

The right two lanes of eastbound I-96 were closed for about three hours for investigation and clean-up. The Brighton Area Fire Authority and Livingston County EMS also responded to the scene.
