Multiple suspects arrested, including 2 teens, in connection to Saturday assault in Green
Multiple suspects were arrested this past weekend in connection to an assault in the city of Green, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff deputies responded to reports of a fight on Arlington Ridge at about 7 p.m. on July 13. When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a 25-year-old male with injuries. Witnesses told deputies multiple suspects wearing masks got out of different vehicles and attacked the victim. The suspects later fled the scene.
Ohio lawmakers discuss options for property tax relief
COLUMBUS, Ohio — After property reappraisals were sent to homeowners across the state, some Ohioans are voicing concern over the impacts to their property taxes. State law requires Ohio counties to reappraise property values every six years. The counties are on a rotation, and in 2024, 18 counties -- including Cuyahoga -- were on the docket.
Canal Fulton receives $500,000 in federal funds for water tower construction
KEY ACTION: Heard that the city received $500,000 in federal money for construction of the west side water tower. DISCUSSION: City officials had worked closely with U.S. Rep. Emilia Sykes, D-Akron, to garner the federal funds to help cover the cost of the $4.3 million project. The federal money will be added to a $2 million grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) and two 30-year loans – $1.3 million from the Ohio Water Development Authority and $900,000 from OPWC. Work has already begun on the water tower near Cherton Street NW with a completion date of 2025.

Tuscarawas County Health Department sees 68% increase in Lyme disease cases
DOVER ‒ Officials with the Tuscarawas County Health Department have seen a 68% increase in reported Lyme disease cases from May 1 through June 30. There have been 74 suspected Lyme cases among Tuscarawas County residents, compared to 44 suspected cases during the same time period in 2023, the agency reported. As of July 10, health department staff were already investigating another 31 suspected cases of Lyme disease for July.
