Semi truck driver killed in rollover crash on I-80; Kedzie Avenue closed in Hazel Crest
HAZEL CREST, Ill. - A driver died Tuesday morning after a semi-truck rolled over on Interstate 80 in Hazel Crest and fell onto the roadway below, Illinois State Police said. Troopers responded to the crash around 4:36 a.m. The truck was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway, went down an embankment, and overturned onto Kedzie Avenue, police said.

Family-owned taqueria Marrufo’s Tacos opens in south Rockford
ROCKFORD — A local family that built a following for its California burrito and award-winning tacos has opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant. Marrufo’s Tacos, 3222 S. Alpine Road, fills the former Ana’s Mexican Restaurant space next to the former Subway south of Sandy Hollow Road. Owners Emily and Jesus Marrufo built a following over the past four years with Sabores Mobile Kitchen, a trailer and then food truck that twice won the title for best tacos at the annual Tamale Fest in Rockford.
