In this episode, I sit down with Jason and Mandy Dittmer, who row crop and raise polled Herefords near Lacona, Iowa. Last year, Mandy — who was born with a kidney defect — was placed on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. There is just a one in 100,000 chance that a non-relative will be a suitable kidney donor, but Jason was a match for his wife. The transplant was performed in February.

Four Ankeny softball players and three from Ankeny Centennial have been named to the academic all-state team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association. The Hawkettes were represented by Marah Hansen, Hannah Howard, Cassie Johnson and Ava Tomlinson. The Jaguars, meanwhile, placed Payton Drefke, Addie Pollock and McKenna Vallejo on the squad.

A 116-year-old Des Moines house is getting a second chance at life after a local nonprofit took on the fixer-upper in hopes to maintain the historic property. Before the renovation, the house located at 3114 Cottage Grove Ave. was divided into three apartment units. Invest DSM, a nonprofit that specializes in community development, took the property under its care and did a full gut and renovation.
Wyffels to showcase new facility during Farm Progress Show
IARN – The 2024 Farm Progress Show will be held August 27–29, 2024, in Boone, Iowa. The show is returning to Iowa for the yearly event that is held every other year at the show grounds in Boone. Last year the show was held at the companion site in Decatur Illinois.

Glenwood interim superintendent arrives at 'destination district'
(Glenwood) -- New leadership is on board in the Glenwood School District. Nicole Kooiker took the helm as the district's interim superintendent earlier this month. Kooiker comes to Glenwood from the Cedar Rapids School District, where she served as deputy superintendent as well as an administrator at Roosevelt Middle School from 2020 until June 30th. Prior to her time in Cedar Rapids, she was superintendent and chief executive officer in the Ottumwa School District from 2016-2020, and before that, superintendent in the West Marshall district from 2013-16. She also served as a teacher and principal prior to her superintendent roles. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Line" program Monday morning, Kooiker says she considered Glenwood "a destination district."
