Haitian patient receives gift of life at Children's Hospital New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS — Children's Hospital in New Orleans is making a global impact by giving the gift of life to a patient flown in from Haiti. Miradeau Jean Paul, 8, was born with a severe congenital heart defect. The condition is a combination of four different defects which impact how blood flows through the heart. Children with this diagnosis are often called “blue babies” because of their blueish-tinged lips, skin, and nails caused by low oxygen levels in the blood.
