MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WJMN) – There’s a chance to lace up your running shoes and head out on a morning run before celebrating the 4th of July.

The Yankee Doodle Dash back for the third year in a row on Independence Day. There are two race options, a 10 mile run and a 5K run that both begin and end at Silver Creek Church in Harvey.

“The 5K run, it’s a 5K loop in Harvey,” said Derek Lindstrom, Race Director, Yankee Doodle Dash. “The 10 mile actually heads into Marquette, kind of turns around by Mattson Lower Harbor Park, out of the northwest corner and comes back into Harvey. I think we will be about 240 people ballpark this year which is for our little race, is good. We have great finisher medals, great shirts, pretty cool awards, but we’re also doing flapjacks. So we have a big griddle going with pancakes when you’re done. As many as you want.”

The Yankee Doodle Dash is Thursday, July 4. Packet pick-up is from 6:30 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. at Silver Creek Church with the runs beginning at 8:00 a.m.
