HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - The Hasbrouck Heights High School girls soccer team got into the spirit of the Summer Games with an Olympics-themed practice.

According to head coach Jennifer Keller, the team has four seniors "so I made four teams, and they each got to pick what country they wanted to represent."

The countries were Germany led by Tessa Reyngoudt; Albania led by Elina Gjeli; Ecuador led by Victoria Morales; and Ireland led by Lily Brown.

Some of the challenges wer a one-mile run (which is run every Thursday), a dribbling relay race, soccer accuracy kick, soccer tennis, the farthest throw in, “javelin” throw, “discus” throw, agility relay race, running the bases, and a silly relay race.

Germany came in first and took home the gold. Albania was second with silver.

Ireland and Ecuador actually tied for last so they did a rock/paper/scissor to see who took third with the bronze. Ireland won that competition and took third, while Ecuador came in last.

"It was definitely a fun practice with the Olympics starting the next day. It was also our last practice before blackout week," said Keller. "We will do our annual color wars in August."

"With more than half of our team being freshman, these activities are a fun way for the girls to bond by working together and building team spirit," she added.
